Dr. Stewart Maupin, DDS, MPH

Dr. Cassandra R. Stewart Maupin is originally from Detroit, Michigan. She earned her Bachelors of Science in Psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She then obtained her Masters of Public Health (Health Management and Policy) from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Stewart Maupin worked as a Special Education/Science teacher in a Title I school in Lithonia, Georgia for six years before attending dental school. Dr. Stewart Maupin obtained her Doctorate of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College, School of Dentistry in Nashville, Tennessee. While attending dental school, she was the recipient of various scholarships and awards including membership to Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society, a prestigious and nationally recognized organization which rewards excellence in scholarship and exemplary traits of character.
With a special interest in research, she has presented at various dental meetings and received recognition, including Most Outstanding Research. She is also a published author in the Journal of Periodontology. Dr. Stewart Maupin completed her pediatric dental training at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami, Florida where she served as Chief Resident. She then completed a Dental Public Health residency at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). She has since pursued both board examinations and as a result Dr. Stewart Maupin is now the first African American to be dually board certified in both Pediatric Dentistry and Dental Public Health. With this unique certification, it is her charge to create a dynamic space to education, empower and to improve the overall success and wellness of all adolescents and children.
Away from dentistry, Dr. Stewart Maupin enjoys spending time with family (Husband- Gabriel, son- Grant and daughter- Gabrielle) and friends, sports, and traveling.
